Are you in search of something to do this weekend? If you’re sick of hanging out on a bar stool every weekend, then head to the movie theater. Curl up with some popcorn and soda and check out one of the great new films. There are so many amazing films out there right now that one of them is sure to be your cup of tea.
Twilight Saga: New Moon.
Yes this film isn’t exactly a masterpiece, but is doing amazingly well in theaters at the moment, holding top grossing spot for a good two weeks. Aside from what this suggests about the intelligence levels of American people, you might as well check it out and see for yourself. It’s chock-full of lusty, frustrating, teenage angst. If you’re a female tween or teen, it really is the must-see movie of the year, if only to see Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner shirtless. If you’re a little older, you’re sure to have a few good chuckles at the ridiculous plot.
Precious
This film certainly won’t brighten up your day, but it is an honest and emotionally compelling film. Avoiding convention, this film will give you a glimpse into an absolutely awful life. You’re certain to leave the theater with a whole new perspective and you’ll probably feel a little glum, but don’t let that stop you from seeing one of the most powerful films of the year. Newcomer Sidibe is exceptional and actress Mo’Nique gives the performance of her career.
2012
While this is certainly your typical end of the world saga, you’ll be amazed with the unbelievable, if not over-the-top special effects as long as you don’t take it all too seriously. It’s made to be cheesy, dopey and silly, with a ridiculous plot-line and even more ridiculous dialogue. Just chill out with your popcorn and take the film for what it is, and you won’t be disappointed.
